Just a quick recap of the Dream Big . . . Read programs at the Sanford Museum.

On June 25 Linda Burkhart shared some wonderful stories about how the Native Americans named some of the constellations we see in the night sky.  After her stories each child was given materials to make a bear claw necklace to take home.  Some boys and girls brought their reading logs to the program and received a prize for what they had read so far.  Keep reading boys and girls!   A big thank you to Linda and Karissa for taking the time to teach us about some of our constellations and providing our readers with a bear claw necklace.

Tuesday, July 2 ninety-five children and adults were amazed and awed  by spectacular magic tricks performed by Rick the Magician.  I always get a kick out of seeing the facial expressions on the children’s faces when something exciting happens in our programs.  But I must say, I think the adults were just as much fun to watch.  If they had a cartoon bubble above their heads I’m sure it would have said, “How did he do that?”

After the magic program Rick showed sixteen boys and girls how to do a few magic tricks.  All the materials they used to learn the tricks were given to the boys and girls to take home and practice.  So look for some new aspiring magicians in your community.  I’ve got one trick  down and I’m practicing on a few others.   Rick had two DVDs I got for the library so others could learn how to do magic tricks.  Thank you to Rick the Magician for a fabulous program and thank you also to the Friends Group for their financial support for the magic materials.

Don’t forget to mark your calendars for the finale Dream Big . . . Read program which will be Friday, July 13 from 10:30 – 12:00 at the Sanford Museum.  If you are ready to “Glow, Glow, Glow” then be sure and come to our program and share in the fun.  A cold lunch will be provided from 11:30 to 12:00.

Just a reminder that pre-school story time will meet every Tuesday during July from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m.

Have a safe 4th of July and read, read, read.
